Support Rep. Joe Wilson’s Opponent, Rob Miller

Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) shouted “You Lie!” during President Obama’s speech to Congress when he mentioned his health plan would not cover illegal immigrants. This instance of extreme disrespect can not go unnoticed. Rob Miller is running against Joe Wilson in South Carolina.

I have never seen such an act of disrespect for the highest office in our country. My hope is that the Republican Party issue a formal censure of Congressman Joe Wilson. If this is the direction of the party and the type of representative the party and the people of South Carolina wants…then I look forward to this party’s continued destruction. He should resign and go back to etiquette school.

Thank you, Bill, for making it easy to support Rob Miller! I sent him a small contribution this morning to help him defeat Congressman Joe Wilson. If all your listeners will do the same, Mr. Miller will be set for a knockout campaign!

The outburst of Mr. Joe Wilson, congressman from South Carolina was disgusting. He should be reprimanded. This was such childish behavior as well as disrespectful. Very un-American, as much of the Republican party has displayed since President Obama took office. “Get a grip!!”

Joe Wilson’s outburst during our President’s speech was extremley disrespectful and un-acceptable. Joe Wilson should be repremended in a way that sends a message that this kind of behavior will not be permitted or tolerated in the future. A simple “I’m sorry” is not enough.

To Congressman Wilson; I am so ashame that I was born, raised and educated in the South. Your outburst set a poor example for my 17 year-old Black grandson. How can we explaine that you should work through the process and show respect for your elders/Your President, when a leader behave so terribly. I hope you know I will support whoever is running against you with any funds I can gather.

We demand you to apologize to Mr. Obama for calling him a liar during his speech. You are out of line and need to go to the House Floor and say you were wrong and sorry for being irresponsible and for being a disgrace to the Congress.

I believe that Congressman Wilson showed disrespect for our country. We vote for people who we think can civially represent our concerns. He just added to the disrespect of how some Americans have acted at the Town Hall meetings. Please keep in mind that we Americans are smart enough to think things through ourselves, don’t mock my government with such disrespect.

I am appalled at Cong. Wilson’s uncivil and rude comment to President Obama during his address to congress…What kind of message is he sending to the young people/students in this country that this kind of behavior is acceptable…Does he want students in SC to stand up in class and yell “liar”to their teachers whenever they feel like it? He is a disgrace to the Congress…Katharine Petrequin

Joe Wilson showed President Obama, the people of South Carolina, and the rest of the nation utter disrespect. His outburst was SHAMEFUL ! It is quite evedent that he hates the President because he is a Democrat but most likely because he is a black man.I believe that his shout out was calculated and meant to disrupt the speech, just like those people at the town hall meetings. Well, I live in Florida but I will be sending as much money as I can to Rob Miller for congress !People around the world are now witness to the gile and venom that you spew out. Mr Wilson and the ” Party of NO ” should be disbanded. None of you care about the people. You care only for the rich, yourself , what you want, and whats in it for you . Mr Wilson,” you can’t take the slap back.” Mr Boehner, reprimand Mr Wilson (openly)!!

Please reprimand Joe Wilson for his actions during President Obamas speech yesterday. I would hate for this to become acceptable behavior by any means! I believe when you are in high office positions there is a certain level of respect you must adhere to. I understand the emotions that arise during such debate but to handle himself as he did is nothing but counter-productive. What does it accomplish? Nothing. In fact the results are only negative.. hate, defiance, unwillingness to communicate in a positive manner are the impressions given. I personally am embarrassed not only for myself but for our country. And he should be ashamed. To do nothing about this would only give the idea that it’s ok. Thank you.

I tried to swend this email but it got kicked back and the phone lines have been busy all day:

I have to say that Rep. Wilson is a discrace to the Republican party and to all of America. Disagreeing with the President is one thing, but screaming out like a spoiled child in a place that is sacred…was absolutley abhorrent. He may not like the President, but as a member of congress he surely has to respect the office of the presidency and the hallowed grounds of the room that they were all in last night.

One more reason I am proud to be a Democrat.

I can not believe as an educated gentleman that you could not control your outburst and show such disrespect for our President. I was shocked and appaled at your behavior and embarassed for our country. Your appology was lame and you used it as a sounding block for your agendas. Get over yourself and do what is right and apologize to everyone for your outburst.

I have tried to access Joe Wilson’s web page and it is apparently seeing a lot of traffic. I have attempted to send an email to his Chief of Staff based on the address you provided, but it is undeliverable. I am in the process of trying to call Joe Wilson;’s office, as well as, John Boehner, but again with no luck. I will take that as a positive sign that there a many outraged Americans trying to do the same thing. Thanks for all the info you provide on your website. President Obama totally ROCKED last night ! The Repbulicans do not know how to handle watching a class act.

I am appalled at the lack of respect for the office of President of the Unites States. The Republicans should be ashamed and they should be call out on this type of juvenile, hateful, behavior. I believe that many Republicans simply cannot handle a person of color in the office of President. African Americans should be cleaning their houses shining their shoes, and caring for their children. Other than that, they should be invisible.

Congressman Wilson conducted himself in very disrespectful manner that was an embarrassment to all. My grandchildren were watching and even at nine years old, they couldn’t believe he was a political figure by the way he acted. It sent a very negative message to all who heard it, and I think he needs to be reprimanded.

I had to endure 8!!!!long years of Bush’s addresses to Congress as did the House and Senate. Never did anyone heckle the then president even though he did deserve getting a shoe tossed at him. By the way the person who did this got an early release..yay!.
I have a feeling that noone will do anything,Dems or Reps re: that awful person Bill Wilson though but through word of mouth, blogs, some tv channels etc. I hope this stupid and disresptful disruption of one of the most important issues of the day will follow him until he is taking fishin’ on some river.

I am definitely going to call the numbers provided here and thanks for posting them. Think Boner or anyone else will do anything — as Amy Whinehouse (sp?) saysb—–no, no, no.
But will something remain out there, his remarks, his remarks reminding us of gun hugging dangerous people at town hall meetings…I think ss…even though it may be just linked with many awful things the GOP has been doing. I feel polarization growing thick around me. I can’t stop it. In fact, I want to be a part of this. At some point to remain complacent and try to placate evil people makes one a traitor to their country and their people.

For what its worth, Kifflyn Vitina..San Francisco

Oh they are always just too busy to take on anyone or anything until something horrid occurs or is about to occur.

I was completely outraged at the behavior of many of the Replicans during President Obama’s speech. Their behavior was incredibly sophomoric and they should be ashamed of themselves. I expect better from the people elected to represent me.

More specifically, I was dumbfounded when Congressman Joe Wilson called the President a liar. This man should be reprimanded to the extreme. However he feels about Obama as a person, or as a President, or about his specific policies, Mr. Wilson should have more self-control than he exhibited last night.

Mr. Wilson demonstrated why a new standard of behavior needs to be set for the Republican party, the party that hypocritically picks apart everyone else until the bones are clean. Given the cowardly, vitriolic, and hateful behavior as demonstrated by Mr. Wilson that I have seen in the last year by members of the Republican party, I am proud to say that I am no longer Republican.

It is time to pull the Republican Party out of the mud. Do not let Mr. Wilson get away with being so disrespectful to the President of the United States of American. Even if he has no respect for the man, he should show respect for the office.

As an American taxpayer I was not only appalled but truly ashamed that Joe Wilson’s disrespectful outlash at last night’s President’s Speech. Apparently his racist rage (YES RACIST RAGE) caused him to throw decorum and respect out the window and disrespect not only the President but for a large majority of the citizens of the United States. Perhaps he forgot that he’s a paid elected official who represents the State of South Carolina and that such outbursts serve no place in his capacity as a congressman. I have relatives in South Carolina whom I’ve spoken to since last night and they are outraged at Wilson’s representation for their State. Thankfully there is light at the end of this tunnel and Wilson will be upseated next year when he’s up for re-election. Perhaps he’ll then have plenty of time to think about how distasteful, disruptive and disrespectful his actions were. Is he really that incensed that we have a black President? Let’s call it what it really is. I DEMAND THAT THE REPUBLICAN CAUCUS REPRIMAND THIS JACKASS NOW BEFORE HE PUTS HIS FOOT IN HIS MOUTH AGAIN. Wilson further proves his racists sentiments today referring to immigrants as “illegal aliens” (www.cnn.com). Are you kidding me? And the Caucus remains silent behind that as well?

I believe that Joe Wilson should be reprimanded for his outburst during the President’s speech last night. My childeren where watching this and I was embarassed for my country to have grown men acting like 2 year olds. It is insulting to the American people that we can not show resect to others that we disagree with in a civil way. He should be repimanded and I hope the democrate running against him wins.

This individual has no place in American politics. To be unable to recognize the civility expected when our President is speaking is unacceptable. As a high school educator of 35 years I would have reprimanded such an outburst immediately. With role models like this how can we ever expect civility of our youth.

I didn’t see any Lib/Dems/asswipes come to Bush’s defense when he was ROUTINELY insulted. Oh, I get it . . . . Bush’s hecklers have a right to free speech, and an obligation to stand up to out of control government . . . . and the conservatives don’t.

Still waiting to hear the answer to this question . . . If there is no mandate, and there are no prohibitions against pre existing conditions, and everyone pays the same premium, WHY would I buy insurance before I get sick??? Why buy car insurance BEFORE I have an accident?? And sir, please remove ALL my pre-existing dents while you’re at it . . . . if you guys weren’t serious, you’d be laughable.

There must be a greater degree of reprimandation, other than a mere apology! Make an example out of his horrific display of disrespect. Not even George Bush (#43) deserved this type of disrespect. That type of behavior is completely unacceptable. PUNISH him to the fullest degree possible, whatever that may be.

For Joe Wilson’s heckling of the President of the United States during Commander Obama’s address to the joint houses of Congress and the American People a strong reprimand and censure of Congressman Wilson is demanded as a minimum penalty.

What happened last night was an embarrassment to the Republican Party. Has the Party so lost control that they now no longer even have respect for THE OFFICE of The President of the United States of America.

An apology after this type of an intentional disruption is nothing. By the Republican Party also doing nothing as far as a punishment they are simply quietly endorsing such behavior.

I look forward to some serious action,

    Regards,

Is there ever a time that we as Americans can rise above our HATRED to show a little respect for at least the highest ranking authority in our nation? I am ashamed as an American to have you represent one our states. You should stand in front of the nation in a prime time televised spot and apologize to Congress AND to the President for your disgraceful actions. Shame on you, Senator Boehner! Enjoy this seat while you have it. I’m a Texan who just donated money to your opponent!!!

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for providing the information to contact Wilson and John Boehner (BAY-ner), who presides over legislators committing daily “boners”.

I emailed and phoned Snake-in-the-grass, Boner, Wilson, and Backus. Once I started contacting these fools, I couldn’t stop and continued through the list of Republicans to impart my wrath about their positions on healthcare reform.

  41. MaryAnne Slick

The disruption by Joe Wilson is inexcusable. I heard his wooden-like reply and it wasn’t genuine, either. Although the White House said they accepted this poor excuse for an apology, I really don’t think it should end there.

Here’s the reason: 1) Many people feed off politcal figures’ messages, and I think there’s a real potential of this snowballing…. 2) The Repubs and the White House have now created a PRECEDENT which means it will be easy to continue this type of behavior.

I really could not stand what the Bush Administration did to our country, our environment, our civil rights, other countries, and our financial and moral standing in the world. However, I would have been upset if Dems had interrupted him. If they can’t respect the man, they need to respect the office of the President. I hope they continue to lose ground if this behavior continues.

Both Shimkus and Wilson deserve to be reprimanded. While the World was watching, both men were rude and disrespectful to a U.S. President. What an example they set! They are a disgrace to all Americans. That being said, I think that many other Republican Members of The Congress should do some soul searching as to their improper behavior last night. Sitting, arms folded, would have been acceptable and understandable; however, waving sheets of paper during the President’s speech was juvenile and inappropriate. It concerns me when grown men show so little self restraint.

Mr. Wilson how can you disrespect our (yours and mine) President, especially on national television. What does this show our children? what does this show the world? If you don’t respect our President, you don’t have to agree with him but RESPECT him you do. Do you have children? Do they respect you? My parents have always taught me to treat people like you want to be treated. Do you want to be treated disrespectful. For shame on you!!!!!!!!! I am sending a check to the person running against you. I do believe his name is Rob Miller. And I do hope he crushes you. You are mean and hateful.

Joe Wilson is an embarrassment & should be ashamed of himself. But then again he is just your typical, idotic republican. I actually think they are helping the President because most people with at least 1/2 a brain can see through what they are doing. They know that all they care about is money and aren’t really interested in helping our country.

I’m proud of Joe Wilson. He told the truth. The president is a liar just like most politicians in Washington, but Obama has raised lying into an art form. Libs know he’s a liar but you just can’t resist your coolaide addictions. Why didn’t libs castigate Harry Reid when he repeatedly called Bush a liar and a loser or when Bush was booed by democrats during his State of the Union Addresses? Libs are nothing more than a bunch of “pots calling the kettle back”. Ooops! I used the “B” word! That makes me a racist, right? Get to know me before you label me. We know Obama. He’s a racist and a liar and a narcissistic thug.

Joe Wilson is a fool and a constant liar. He is a disgrace to his party, his district in congress, and more importantly to the United States of America.

He should be removed from office and the State of South Carilina be required to hold a new election to fill that districts seat. In the meantime the state will not be losing much, since no good smoe joe isn’t doing anything. Must come with the southern culture and ethics.

Typical of the never in doubt but frequently wrong types.
