Is nobody willing to stand up and defend ACORN? Nobody?
Well, then, I will – and it’s not too hard to do.
Don’t people realize? All these attacks by FOX and Republicans against ACORN are nothing but an attempt to change the subject from health care – and to undermine President Obama.
Look, has ACORN made mistakes? Of course. Which 39-year organization with over 1000 employees has not? Even members of the military have made mistakes. But does that mean we shut down the Pentagon?
Last year, Fox accused ACORN of massive voter registration fraud. But guess what? They didn’t find any. Yes, there were a few bad apples here and there – which ACORN discovered and fired – but no widespread voter fraud.
This year, a couple of stupid ACORN employees gave tax advice to a right-wing sting crew posing as pimp and prostitute. But guess what? ACORN fired the staffers, called the cops, hired a private investigator, and suspended their contract with the IRS.
For almost forty years, ACORN’s been fighting for better housing, better wages, better schools, parks and jobs in over 100 cities in America.
Don’t let Fox fool you. The good ACORN’s done far outweighs a couple of mistakes.
