  1. Hi Bill, You are terrific. I listened to your show today. It was great. We need to help the opposing senators and the elderly understand that without the public option in the new insurance friendly health reform bill, medicare will go bankrupt and there will be no funds left to take care of them. This would be a lose-lose solution for everyone. Even the doctors should be worried because with no government funding for health care, they will join the ranks of the jobless. R G Troxler MD,MPH

  2. Diane Fleming says:

    Hi Bill!

I love listening to your show every morning driving into work. As a professional healthcare employee, I strongly urge everyone to contact these Senators and DEMAND a public option in this bill. This bill will do absoultely NOTHING to reform healthcare without a public option. If the final bill does not contain a public option, the Democrats should kill the bill. I fail to understand why there hasn’t been a forceful public outcry concerning this bill. People should be demanding healthcare reform and see to it that these Senators understand. The Republicans keep saying (on TV) that the American people do NOT want healthcare reform. Lies. But if they don’t hear from us, then maybe that’s what they think. Democracy begins with YOU! Stand up for healthcare reform.

  3. Bill Brady says:

Latest Rasmussen poll has only 38% support Obamacare.

Don’t worry. Landrieu, Lincoln, and Nelson have been bought and paid for and Reid owns them. They can’t do anything BUT vote for Obamacare. Anything they say to the contrary is empty rhetoric.

  4. Margaret Houlehan says:

Sigh….Mr. Brady…To extend healthcare access to more Americans and ameliorating the stranglehold the insurance monopoly enjoys even slightly is not Obamacare. It is social justice. And if that makes me a socialist, so be it. Far preferable to being a neocon.

  5. jon says:

All Of Congress is owned by big corporations. No Republicans except Joseph Cao from LA. and a few Demacrats vote with their constituents best interests in mind. Career polititions have only one concern…getting re elected. They have the best Government Health insurance option with 21 plans to choose from. Opon retirement they receive 90% of their salaries for life.
Private money is acidic to the political process and career polititions are only looking out for themselves. Campaign finance reform and term limits are the only ways to return this country to “The People”.

  6. Bill Brady says:

Jon: The people are in control. It’s called the “vote”. We keep re-electing these buffoons to office for 30 and 40 year careers. We have met the enemy and they is us. McCain/Feingold was a monumental failure. There’s more money in politics today then ever before and it will never, ever be removed. Politicians pander to big money and always will…………….until we fire them.

  7. Bill Brady says:

Margaret Houlehan: “Social Justice”. ? ? Please define your interpretation of social justice. I likely have a different definition. You go first.

    RE: Healthcare Access

    Dear Senator Nelson

My doctor has always been there to take care of me. Iam worried about my doctor’s ability to continue providing care.
Over the past few years, increased pressures on the Healthcare System have made it difficult for many doctors to practice. I am worried that my doctors may have to restrict patient access further. On top of that, costs for doctors to provide service to me have continued to rise.

While Congress is writing bills to reforms health care, health insureance, and cover the uninsured, please find a way to cut cost and provided high quality care to all people. Please help build and efficient system that will not bankrupt our country. Please make stabilization of our healthcare system a top priority. I don’t want to lose my doctor. Thank you for taking care of an issue vital to all Americans.

    Sincerely

P.S. Where were all these Dr’s When Bush was in power for 8 years!!!!!

I My self WANT A PUBLIC PLAN OPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. jon says:

Bill Brady you are nieve. Big money rules the “vote”. Big money determines who will run in a given race. Big money determines which bills make it to the floor for a vote. All of the Repugnican’ts and Many Demacrats are in bed with the Big insurance. Corporations should not have “Personhood” and they should not be allowed to contibute millions to canidates to sway their vote. America once again needs to get involved in “movement” politics, this two party B.S. is not working. We need to threaten to shut the country down to get their attention… Mr. Brady, stop drinking the “Coolaide”.

  10. Margaret Houlehan says:

Billy, dearest. I believe that basic health care is a right for all humans. You apparently do not. Fine. I just hope that no catastrophic illness befalls you or your beloved and you find you are not as well-insured as you thought.

By the way, I have 23 years in the health care field, so probably am a little more entitled to speak than you.

You asked what “social justice” is. I will say simply that I do not believe that any American, or human, for that matter, should have to face bankruptcy for having the audacity to get sick.

Are you really a heartless bastard, or do you just play one on the internet?

  11. Jeffrey Elledge says:

Thanks Bill for putting the Senators that needs a kick in the butt on your front page! I will email them every day!

  12. Danny says:

If Lincoln votes for this, she’s done! Wait a minute, She’s done anyway!

  13. John says:

    Hi Margaret!

  14. John says:

    We miss you on facebook.

  15. Jon says:

People like Bill Brady believe that tax subsidies (tax payer dollars) should only go to private corporations such as Blackwater and Exxon Mobile. What his ignorance and hatred doesn’t let him see is that Obama’s health care subsidies go directly to private, for profit insurance companies. What makes him so irate is that it’s a Demactrat subsidizing private corporations instead of a Repugnican’t. Bush’s “Medicare part D” cost over 700 Billion and was never paid for. That bill subsidized private companies 114% of what federal medicare costs. How should we pay for these wars of choice Mr. Brady? Don’t you think they should have been deficit neutral? Not one dime of the Iraq or Afgan wars were funded within the military or any other budget. So is it ok to put wars of choice on a credit card, but anything that’s good for the American people is bad for America’s economy?

  16. Bill Brady says:

I just love the way liberals immediately sink to name calling. It’s expected. I’m 65, have paid health care insurance for over 40 years. My Mrs. is a breast cancer survivor. Diagnosed in 1991. Radical mastectomy. We’ve been there and we’re still kicking. Healthcare is not a “right” but a responsibility. Now, if we want to get into the selective income tax thing and funding for Iraq and Iran, I have a few areas where I do not want a penny of my taxes going: Climate studies, wind and solar subsidies, Freddie, Fannie, Bailouts, Stimulus, Tarp, Planned Parenthood, ACORN, Obamacare, Illegal Aliens. In fact, if I had my choice, I’d send every dime of my taxes to the military. They deserve it and have earned it. Let the name calling begin.

  17. jeff g says:

Go to IRS.gov and do some research. You’ll find that for the last tax year reported roughly 40 mil of 130 mil tax payers received a 100% refund. Maybe they should do their “patriotic duty to pay taxes” (VP Joe Biden) and pay taxes to help fund health care? I served my country for 14 years and pay taxes so why shouldn’t they? After all I don’t get a tax waiver for doing my patriotic duty do I? I’m very happy with my current HC provider and my benefits. Having been a part of a govt run system and wouldn’t wish that on anyone, despite what Bill P likes to say military health care and the VA suck! I avoid the VA at all cost! Face it, Americans don’t want this bill and don’t trust congress! Take a look at the latest ABC/Wash Post poll( http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/graphic/2009/12/15/GR2009121504435.html). Most oppose it, think it will cost more and think it will weaken what we already have.

  18. Jon says:

Well Bill, I’m sure as Ron Paul says,”the only way to make a policy you don’t believe in fail is to not participate”, you hold true to your values and refuse Medicare benefits and send all Social security checks back to sender. Most Repugnican’ts say: “I paid into it so I’m entitled”. That is true, but if you truly hate liberal policies and programs, you’d send the checks back. That is all part of following your beliefs and “taking care of yourself”. The facts are, most repugnican’s reap every penny of the liberal programs they rave against. You do approve of government subsidies using tax payer dollars, but only if they are geared toward war, death and destruction. I do appriciate your honesty Sir.

  19. Margaret Houlehan says:

    Bill,

I am very sorry about your wife’s cancer. I actually work in Phase I clinical trials, trying to find better cures for these cancers. Health care is a right. Jesus would view it as such, I have no doubt. I hope you continue to have good insurance….or is it Medicare? Gosh darn it, why won’t the government stay out of health care? If I were you, I would not accept Medicare. I agree with Jon.

Please, do not be lulled into thinking you are impervious to financial difficulties associated with cancer or other chronic illnesses. Trust me, I see it every day where I work. People losing their homes, savings, everything. Happens to good, hard-working people every day.

What really saddens me is the ugly selfishness I see rearing its head, most particularly among seniors who fear that someone will mess with their Medicare. The attitude of “I’ve got mine, to hell with everyone else” is not only un-American, but not Christian, as so many people claim to be.

I myself have excellent insurance right now. Tomorrow, I could find a lump in my breast, lose my job, and lose my home. So, every morning, I pray to Almighty God that I keep my good health. For I do not want to be a pawn is this atrocious, mercenary health care system.

I am sorry if I am harsh. But I am very passionate in my beliefs, based on what I have seen and experienced. I truly wish your wife well. I see many patients like her every day. I would not wish for any of them to not get treatment because they have crappy or no insurance. I could not get up every morning and go to a very difficult job if I did not fervently believe that every human on earth is precious. I can’t tell you how many times I have been on the phone with insurance companies, arguing for a much-needed medication for one of my patients. I frequently put in 12-hour days caring for my patients. I always figure, that could be me, my mother, brother, etc.

I agree with Jon, I have to give you A for honesty. I guess you don’t like interstate highways, police or fire protection, libraries, etc. Damn that government intrusion!

  20. Bill Brady says:

Jon: My B’Day is Sept. 11, 1944………911 to many people. I signed up for medicare against my will and am now charged another $100 per month whether I want it or not. Now, since medicare is my primary provider….why must I continue to pay full premiums for my regular but now secondary provider?? And since I’ve been to a doctor only twice in the last 30 years, insurance companies and medicare love me. If I cough, I take care of it. If I sneeze, I take care of it. If my knee hurts, I take care of it. If my tummy hurts, I take care of it..on my own. I don’t go to the emergency room and charge my insurance every time I have a sniffle. That’s one of the biggest problems with people today. You think I’m lying but I’m not. I’m a die hard hunter and can hike desert or mountain in pursuit of elk or quail better than most people half my age. The best place to get sick is to go to the hospital because that’s where all the sick people are ! ! So I don’t go. I’ve paid a helluva lot into the system and have drawn out very little so I really don’t feel I’ve abused my “entitlements”. In fact, I don’t feel I’m entitled to anything, especially any of YOUR money to take care of me. I am responsible for me, no one else is. I guess I’m pretty simple minded.

  21. Bill Brady says:

Margaret: We suffer no illusions. You, probably better than most, have seen the impacts of catastrophic illnesses. When it first impacts, you live from day to day. After a bit, it’s week to week. A little later it’s month to month. Then awhile longer it’s year to year until you cross that 10-12 year milestone and start believing you’ve looked the beast in the eye and beat it…..but there’s always that gnawing in the back of the mind forever that you wonder if the monster is coming back. Millions deal with it every day. If you’ve seen my previous post, you’ll see I’m now on medicare but am required to maintain my regular insurance….which has been good over the years, even though I’ve not used it all that much. I’m one of them Neanderthals that believe in taking care of themselves and not dashing off to the emergency room every time an ache or pain or sniffle crops up. And yes, I believe fervently in police and fire protection and good highways (gas taxes) and libraries being an avid WWII history buff……..but guess what gets cut first in times of economic difficulty? It sure isn’t salaries or travel for our elected officials.

  22. Roger Powers says:

After 61 years as a Democrat, working for JFK, Bobby and Teddy, I will be changing my party affiliation to Independent Liberal, Obama and the Democrats have let me down for the last time, No Public Option, No Support.

  23. jon says:

Bill, Medicare is a liberal, government run healthcare system in which I’m not eligable for but pay dearly too ( I am proud to do my part). I am paying for your healthcare and you say your responsible for yourself. If you hate liberal programs, get off the Medicare and Social security. Private insurance for a couple your age should only run you about $35,000 to $50,000 annually. Being a strong willed man with the drive to take care of yourself, you probably saved enough over the years to afford this, no? This is of course if niether one of you have any pre exsisting conditions. Oh, you will probably also have a $10,000 or more deductible before your insurance provider pays a dime. You sound like you’re against any government programs and/or subsidies. There are no laws (at least not yet) saying you have to receive either one. You say healthcare is a responsibolity not a right, yet you claim you have “entitlements”. Entitlement means “rights to”, so what’s it gonna be Bill? Are you going to continiue to rave against the programs and policies you count on for your very survival, or are you going to accept the fact that we’re all in this together.

  24. Rob says:

We can continue the old liberal vs. conserative arguments, or we can focus on what we have learned from the Obama election and the health care debate.
    1. We learned who is responsible for the insane increases in health care costs and who has reaped obscene profits from the American people. Up until this debate nobody (insurance companies, drug companies, for profit hospitals) claimed to be making profits. These facts were kept under the radar or swept under the rug.
    2. We learned that our elected officials are corrupt and their loyalty can be purchased by the highest corporate bidder, despite what is best for or demanded by “we the people”
    3. Our democracy is dead and has been for sometime now. We live under a Corporatocracy and are one more conservative administration from living in a Kingdom, where we will have the top 1-2% earners as “Royalty” and the other 98% of us as “Serfs”. Sorry I take that back, we are already there.
    4. The progressives and labor unions have again been duped. Barack Obama is a closet conservative, or has become one now that he has been elected. This means more of 1, 2 & 3 above.
Until we have campaign finance reform, or the corporations and their lobbyists are removed from influencing our political system no meaningful changes can or will occur in this once great country.
I am truly ashamed to be witness to what has transpired during this past year. The election of Obama; the health care reform and debate was about reversing the direction that this country has been heading for the past 30 years. What’s painful is realizing that it is too late to do that.
So all you right wing conservatives out there can now gloat! I just hope that you are in the “Royalty” income bracket, otherwise you will wake up one of these days and discover you help promote and support your own demise. But do not worry, you will be completely obilivious to this occurrence as long as you all continue to watch FOX news.

  25. jon says:

You’re 100% correct Rob. We need to get back to “movement politics”. “Big Money” owns Washington and will fight campaign finance reform tooth and nail. Health insurance cost are only going to soar higher with the “boomers” comming of age. This bill in it’s current form is nothing more than a gift to the private insurance companies. It might do some good for 30 million people or so that lack coverage now (leaving 15 million plus uninsured), but between now and 2013 our rates will skyrocket.
Government subsidies going to for profit companies who take up to 30% off the top are no good. Even if there are profit caps, no pre exsisting conditions and protections against denial the “wolf” will still be guarding the hen house. Congress is broken and no longer has the ability to govern.
I am afraid that the Employee free choice act is going to be blocked and/or held up in the Senate. The Senate with it’s “club house rules” is owned lock, stock and barrel by big insurance and other giant corporations. Reid has the power to blow up the filibuster and only require 50 votes + Biden. The reason he won’t is he takes tens of thousands in contributions from insurance and drug companies. Go to consumerwatchdog.org and click on health and drug company contributions, it will become only too clear.
Soon we will have had enough and rise up, I hate to say it but massive protests are goning to be what it takes.

  26. Margaret Houlehan says:

    Bill,

Honestly, if you became very ill and could not afford your health care, I would be very happy if my taxes went to help you get decent care. Tomorrow, it could be me that needs it. I am very healthy due to the excellent genes from my parents. However, recently I needed some “female” surgery . I have great insurance, but I saw the explanation of benefits from Blue Cross. It was close to 40K for a three-day hospitalization. If I did not have a good job with good insurance, I would be looking at bankruptcy right now.

Bill, I believe in taking care of myself too. But sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. I have had a number of young patients with pancreatic cancer that never drank alcohol and lived very healthy lives. Yet, here they are, in a Phase I clinical trial, because they have no other options.

I just want to believe that if I am ever really sick, someone will take compassion on me and help me, especially if I am unfortunate enough to not have insurance.

  27. Bill Brady says:

Jon: Yes sir, we’re all in this together. You pay for things you never use and so do I. This country has been bankrupt for years. It didn’t start with Bush but many years before. In fact, it goes back to FDR and the new deal and social security, the mother of all entitlements. Would you agree that the original intent of Social Security has been lost over the decades? SS was never meant to be a secure retirement for anybody. It was meant to stop the bleeding during the depression. Since then it has mutated into an inviolable right and a secure retirement income. And we all pay into it whether we use it or not. I also read back through my posts and tried to find where I felt medicare was my entitlement and I was going to use it and take advantage of it and the rest of the world be damned. Couldn’t find it. Yes, I pay into medicare as you do. I have not used it, have no plans to use it, so all the insurance premiums I’ve paid for decades and medicare withholdings I’ve paid for decades have covered someone else. That should make my insurance company happy, medicare happy, and those who use their insurance and/or medicare on a regular basis very happy. I think it’s called “actuary tables” and all insurance providers, private or government owned will use them. You also suggested if I was going to continue to “rave against the policies and programs you count on for your very survival”? My “very survival” ? ? ? I sincerely hope you’re kidding? Do you actually depend on the Federal Government, medicare, social security, etc.etc.etc, ad.infinitum. for your survival ? ? ? I believe you really don’t and have the ability to fend for yourself and take care of your family by your own means. I am enjoying the debate. Merry Christmas.

  28. jon says:

Bill, your statement about your “entitlements”, Is in post #20 line #9. You are correct as I’ve stated, You are entitled but you don’t should stick to your personal beliefs by accepting no “handouts”. You need to cancel your medicare and either buy private insurance or pay your medical bills out of pocket.
Social security is a successfull program I am proud to pay into. The problem is is that Ronald reagan doubled Social security taxes on the middle class to make up for his monumental tax cuts for the rich( remember the recession of 1982?). He lowered the top tax from 71% for income over 3.25 million dollars down to 35%. Then to pay for many covert, off budget operations and policies he began to rob the Social security fund. What better way to make a program fail then to puposely make it go broke? With all the tax loopholes the ubber rich now pay a maximum of about 7%. Before Reagan, S.S. was a “pay as you go” system. With the help of “Reaganomics”, Alan greenspan, George H.W.Bush(Mr. “Voodoo” economics) and thier grand idea of “trickle down” economics, America has become a “financial” economy. Not to mention the poor folks have paid into S.S. proudly and look forward to retirement (I know this doesn’t include you). Alan Greenspan changed the way inflation is tallied and excluded Food, energy, housing and transportation. It is due these reasons the elderly on S.S. can bearly afford to eat. Remember in 1995 when Gingrich closed down the government because Clinton wouldn’t sign for massive Medicare and Education cuts? I am different from you Bill, I am proud to pay for the needs of my fellow man with the confidence and hope that he’d do the same for me. This country would not be bankrupt except for “Supply side economics”. “Freeze wages, move the manufacturing base over seas, extend endless credit to everyone whether they can afford it or not”. Wages have been stagnet since 1980, yet inflation is through the roof. Reagan waging war on unions and the middle class is the begining of why we are here.

  29. Margaret Houlehan says:

    Amen, Jon!

  30. Bill Brady says:

Margaret and Jon: It’s obvious that you’ll not convert me nor will I convert you. That’s perfectly ok. It’s called freedom and the voters will have their say in November, 2010. God Bless America. God Bless the troops. Merry Christmas.

  31. Uncle Ellsworthey says:

Well now, we the people, the 57% who don’t want this to pass in the first place, are quite pleased that the “public option” is no longer under consideration. It was a dumb idea to begin with. Now if the entire bill could be dropped it would be a blessing. Those voting for it will for the most part be voted out of office at the next opportunity. Those who make light of the Tea Parties, should be taking heed of the warnings of things to come.

  32. Bill Brady says:

Unca Els: We the people mean absolutely NOTHING……except at the polling place. Bless you Sir. Do not think for a minute the “public option” or “publicly funded abortion” is dead. It’s buried in there and will come back with a vengance. It’s the cornerstone of socialized health care. It’s all in the “language” of the bill…..and the language sucks. It will be back, trust me, it will be back at the earliest opportunity. Look at the words….the words…….Nelson folded to a phrase of gobbledygook that opens up the world of publicly funded abortion. Nelson sold out for peanuts so I guess the price of life has just been likewise devalued.??

  33. Jon says:

Margaret, that was the shortest response from Mr. Brady ever, huh. We are just short of getting him to admit that he supports “corporatist facism” ( the corporations controling the government). Now it appears he’s moved on to other people to spew his uneducated, unprepared rederect:) MERRY X-MAS Bill:)

  34. jeff g says:

Jon, Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean that they are ‘uneducated’. The fact that you resort to name calling only demeans yourself and your argument. However, if you are going to make such accusations perhaps you would have a stronger argument if you used correct spelling, after all you are so much more educated than us. I believe it’s ‘democrat’ not ‘demacrat’ which you use repeatedly. I also believe that in your last post you meant to say ‘unprepared rhetoric’ not ‘unprepared rederect’, if not could you please inform those of us not fortunate enough to have your high degree of education what the actual definition of ‘rederect’ is since not even Mr. Webster knows? Or perhaps you just really have no idea of what you are talking about and can only spew talking points you heard someone else say?

  35. Bill Brady says:

Merry Christmas Jon and Margaret: God Bless America. God Bless the troops.

The “Tag Team” of Margaret and Jon seems to be in full swing. “Corporatist Fascism” ? ? ? Since I’m such an uneducated oaf and serf of His Highness Obama, I must admit, “corporatist” doesn’t ring a bell but fascism sure does ! ! My Dad was a veteran, ’43-45′. He looked fascism in the eye and fought it. My younger brother served in Viet Nam, 70-71. He looked fascism in the eye and fought it. I am a veteran, 62-65 but since I served in the “cold war”, not a “shooting war”, I will not present myself in any way comparable to the brotherhood of combat veterans. They and only they can understand what it is. But there I go again “spewing” a bunch of uneducated drivel. Jon, when you toss the word “fascist” about, please realize what you say, especially when you call me a fascist. I’ve not moved on to others to “spew” my hatred. I rather like this debate. In fact, I believe it’s the longest thread I’ve ever seen on Mr. Press’s website ? ? ? Seeing an alternative viewpoint is pretty interesting, no??

Please send a few “care packages” to the troops. They deserve it and have earned it.

  36. Jon says:

Name calling…call it what you will. I am mainly pointed out an ideology. A person who is anti government and who believes that everything should be run be private corporations leans toward corportist facism. We are in a corporatocracy where big insurance decides who lives or dies, Walmart rules retail choices and stagnant wages keep people too busy scraping a living to get involved in any movements. Facists rule by limiting and controlling your choices. If you open your eyes and mind you will plainly see that our government is owned and controlled by giant corporations. These corporations decide who will run for office and what policies they will fight for once they get there. The media giants like Rupert Merdoch and Reverend Moon largely control what you consume as “news”.
Thanks for the spelling lesson Jeff and the dime store phycology lesson.
Happy Holidays to all. May God look over everyone:)
The people in this country who are anti government, pro private corporations unknowingly lean toward facism.
It’s no different than when those same people say that pro government people are socialists. There is a huge difference between socialist and sicialized. Although most people spewing the socialist B.S. don’t even know the definition or the difference.
I am totally anti war, I’ll give the troops my support when they come home.
The Vietcong were communists not facists.
I never called anyone a facist(well mabey collectivelly). It almost seems like there might be a little parinoia here. I said that by being anti government, pro private corporations, it seems “you are supporting corportist facism”. It is typical for Republicans to spin everything though.

  37. Robert Earl Lewis says:

Whatever we get we deserve because we didn’t really fight for it. The crazies on Fox News and their crazy tea-bagger followers out-foxed us! They got out in the streets, to the townhalls and demonstrated their disapproval for healthcare. This in addition to writing letters, emails, calling, and tweeting. Why did they go to the townhalls? Because that’s where the members of congress were! You know … THE WRITERS OF BILLS!!! They understand that true influence on congress comes from WE THE PEOPLE! We did not organize to combat the tea-baggers, so what did the news media do? Covered THEM!
What did we do? Turn over OUR responsibility to the president then attacked him! Ed Shultz, for example, consistently bashes the president with questions such as: Where is the president on this? Did he fight hard enough for the public option? Did he sell us out? Will the Democratic Party suffer at the polls in the mid-terms? Rather than learning from OUR failure to organize and take the bull by the horns. The tea-baggers answered the call to move on and disrupt any positive conversation about health care reform. We sat back, looked at them and exclaimed how crazey they are! Look at how they so easily ied to protest against their own interest! They are stupid! We even, then and now, make fun of them! Labeled them extremist!
Be reminded The regular or normal people of Germany, back in the thirties looked upon the Nazi Party in much the same way! They did not organize against them and they ended up taking over the country.
Yes we should write and call these legislators BUT in addition we should organize to have at least twenty people shadow them wherever they go. Go in shifts so it won’t cause a hardship on anyone and let these legislators know that they, the demonstrators, are only representing less than the tip of the iceburg. That other people will relieve them but the protest will be consistent. Lastly, let’s help Bernie Sanders and others who plan to began working on improving the healthcare bill the day after this one passes. Not only with our letters, emails, twits, calls, but also with our money and feet. That’s how we turned the voting process upside down and made the impossible, possible, which was the election of America’s 1st Black President. President Obama DIDN”T do this! We the people did it! We must continue to resole ourselves to stay engaged in the movement!

Margaret and Heathcare is a Right Supporters,

I was reading the bible looking for the passage where Jesus says healthcare is a right. I cannot find it.
Where is this reference you are using to support your argument?
I do find multiple references where we should take care of each other… but rights via governments are not mentioned.

Also, to all on this post who believe healthcare is a RIGHT, please define what type of healthcare you believe in?

For the overweight, is it healthy food? Where do they get it at affordable prices as needed?

What about exercise and rehabilitation? Are Gym memberships included.
In order to get to the gym I need someone to watch my children (special needs kids). Is this covered? If so, How?

Food is a definate need, without which we die. Is this covered under healthcare?
Clothing, home, education and other items in society are related to good health, ergo Healthcare… Are they covered? If not, Why? Without medicine you might die, without food/clothing/shelter you will die.

Maybe preventive care is not covered… Maybe only once you are sick the care is covered? If this is the case, how do we certify that the sickness is covered, ergo, you are reallt ill? You could run up a lot of expenses only to find out you are ‘not really sick’.

Right now my family only goes to the Dr when we have to, partially because we cannot afford excessive visits? Does this Right mean that I can take my family to the Dr anytime I want, for as many visits as I want, as I deem necessary? Day or night?

Currently we wait for around 15 to 30 minutes for visits. How will we maintain this standard?

Margaret, as a part of reducing costs of care are you willing to take a reduction in pay? Charity begins with you. I see from you previous statements that you are generous with other peoples money, what about if it effects you directy?

How many people in this post are willing to actually donate to services which help the needy. PAYING TAXES is not Donating. Paying taxes is an obligation… you have no choice. Charity is a personal option.

For those who argue that People against socialization should send back what the government allots, after we are REQUIRED to pay in… How about you relinquish what was earned via our military and unnecessary wars. Give up your US Citizenship, do not vote, no freespeach, ect…

The Constitution is supposed to be the Supreme Law of the land. Where is ANY type of healthcare listed (or hinted at) as a RIGHT!

The arguments about Police and Fire Departments are non-sequitors. The FEDERAL government does not control these.
If a State or Local government wants to this they are allowed (under the US Constitution), but not the Feds.
Military is provided for in the Constitution.
Roads can be said to be covered under the Interstate Commerce clause (with only a little stretch).

If you think your neighbor needs health insurance, do the Christian thing and provide it for them, but dont steal from others to fund your ‘good’ works.

    Yours in Yeshua

    Hi Dan,

Will you please tell Bill that I have deeply appreciated his optimism, ethusiasm and loyal support of President Obama before and after his election, however now that he is joining the Republicans in tearing down his administration I will no longer listen to Bill Press. Russ Bellville is even worse. I won’t be tuning in at 3:00 in the morning, which is a shame because Bill has a unique perspective in Washington, living on Capitol Hill and knowing so many people there. You, Dan, add much to the show and I’ll miss you, too.

    Bye,
    Ann Brooks

Bill Press said something against President Obama!? He must be racist! Bill, please be a good mindless liberal and only say nice things about the “chosen one”. No NEA grants for you.

  43. Margaret Houlehan says:

I am late in getting back here. But, Bill, please don’t even go there about the military. My father was in North Africa and Italy during WWII, suffered from malaria. To the end of his life, he was a pro-union Democrat.

I worked for the VA as a physician assistant. I can’t tell you how many comments I heard about, “no one cares about me”, “why won’t they cover my cancer treatment?” Well, I became a person I don’t like very much when I told them that, well, we are spending so much on war, there is nothing else for you. I just get so disgusted with people who live by the talking points of Faux Noise, that I ahve little sympathy left for them.

  44. Margaret Houlehan says:

Elton, all I can say is that I hope you are never in a position you become very sick and lose your job and insurance. This is distilling the conversation to some degree, but, the essence of what we are discussing.

  45. Margaret Houlehan says:

Amen, Rob! These rubes here just don’t get it.

  46. Margaret Houlehan says:

Jon, I am ready to become a Quaker. I am disgusted with the Catholic Church.

  47. Margaret Houlehan says:

Bill Brady, don’t even begin to believe you are the only one who cares about the troops. I have been a member of Operation Uplink for yours.
