It was 1:30 Tuesday. Time for the Tuesday White House Briefing to begin. We were in our seats, chatting among ourselves, knowing Robert Gibbs would be at least 15 minutes late, as he always is.
When, all of a sudden, the door opened, right on time, and in walked President Obama and strode right to the podium. OMG!
Clearly, the president wanted to talk about bipartisanship.
He said he’d just finished a meeting with Democratic and Republican leaders and was pleased to discover agreement on several issues. But he told Republicans bipartisanship didn’t mean accepting all of their ideas, while rejecting anything Democrats came up with.
He also said that bipartisanship was not about playing political games, like filibustering all of his Senate nominees. If that continued, Obama warned, he was prepared to make recess appointments.
Finally, Obama said he was looking forward to a bipartisan meeting on health care on February 25. But John Boehner and Mitch McConnell insisted Obama first throw away the House and Senate bills and start from scratch. And Eric Cantor called it a “dog and pony show.”
Clearly, bipartisanship has a long way to go.
That’s my parting shot for today.

Dear Editor
” (Who Owns And Operates The United States “Author Morton Mintz)+)…listed the Auto, Drug and Insurance Companies add in the “ Media’ corporations , Banks and the Industrial war machine are destroying America by controlling our Politicians who oversee and make laws which control the Population and protect the Super-rich from paying taxes and laws which protect them but hurt the Nation as a whole .
Media is a powerfull tool in shapping the agenda and to tell people what they should think:
The unconditioned responce from the people is always to make sure the Rich has there way:when this fails to work on an informed public then Confusion and lies inflict a serious blow to Reform.
• The quest for public financed health care is in my opinion so desired by the public but so opposed by the corporation giants that only the military would be able to enforce it.
• The people, nor the Whitehouse or our form of judicial- government-have no power to overcome this massive array of power.
• Senators and Congressmen are overpaid- fetch and rollover lobbyist who do the bidding of corporations…. for the love of money .
• the healthcare Industry and the media have the same owners -they even control the U.S. Supreme Court:
• (On August 6, 2009, CBS Corporation reported revenues of $3.01 billion)
• I want Single Payer\Public Healthcare Option…But .the forces against this nation will do anything to stop America, from self-rule and be a “Nation of the people for the people and by the people”…we need more people Like President Obama…….and a lot –less-Republicans.
• The sad fact is Money talks a lot louder than politically correct speakers; higher education or even when it’s in our own best interest;
Those who bombard us with commercials – movies and “ some news” control the Psychology conditioning of the masses and only the Media and health care industry know just Who owns America;
Thank you for your assistance.
I have been listening to this debate from the talk shows for quite a while… Well, that’s not entirely honest, I can’t listen to “conservative” talk shows like Limbaugh’s or Beck’s for more than five minutes without wondering if they’ve gone off their meds.
However, I have formed the conclusion that “progressive” talk shows are just as bad because they seem to think I’m a complete idiot. They will make two completely contradictory statements and expect me to believe both are correct. The latest has been the whole “Health Care Debate.”
From the beginning the “progressives” have been stating that a “Health Care Bill” is too important to play politics with, and I agree 100%… Then they go and defend the Democrats playing politics with it.
It’s simple, unless the “Health Care Bill” contains meaningful Tort Reform, we’re playing politics in favor of trial lawyers over health care providers… and the very presence of earmarks proves they are again playing politics. What else would you call threatening to vote against the Bill unless you get $10 billion worth of federal funding for your own pet project? (Bernie Sanders D-VT).
I’m an Independent mainly because over the years both parties have gone out of their way irritate the heck out of me.
Oh, and in case Beck is listening in the wings… The “Health Care Bill” is not the single biggest attack on liberty in the history of the Unites States, that would be the “Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798″ followed closely by the “USA Patriot Act of 2001″.
