If you asked me to sum up what’s wrong with politics today in two words, my answer would be: “Mitch McConnell.”
Don’t believe me? Just listen to the opening sentence in yesterday New York Times profile of McConnell:
“Before the health care fight, before the economic stimulus package, before President Obama even took office, Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican minority leader, had a strategy for his party: use his extensive knowledge of Senate procedure to slow things down, take advantage of the difficulties Democrats would have in government and deny Democrats any Republican support on big legislation.”
The entire Republican plan was to obstruct, delay, deny, kill. And that’s all they’ve done, on every issue.
No wonder people are sick of the health care debate.
No wonder people are sick of politics.
Because that’s not how politics is supposed to work.
Republicans were not elected just to get in the way. Republicans and Democrats were elected to get things done.
The problems facing America today are too serious for years of inaction.
Since Mitch McConnell and his band of Republicans refuse to work with Democrats to solve problems, they should get out of the way and let us replace them with people who will.
That’s my parting shot for today.

If only the “liberal media” would show the American people how bipartisanship works …
There’s bipartisanship when there’s a Republican president and total Republican control. There’s “lockstep” and “partisan politics/grandstanding” when Dems band together to oppose bad legislation. It’s a “bipartisan” scandal when they can find ONE democrat to “offset” the large number of Republicans.
When it’s a Democratic President, it’s a “debate”. There’s NO “partisan politics” when not a single Republican will break ranks (lockstep) to go with what’s right for America and support a proposal by a Democrat.
Let’s be honest it’s all a bit of the pot calling the kettle black.
Does anyone really think Pelosi or Reid are any better or different than McConnell? They all use the same arguments it just a matter of which argument supports their needs. If you’re upset about the Republicans and their tactics than how can you support Reconciliation or deem and pass? Remember that at one time Obama and Reid were against it but now they are for it only because it supports their cause. Just wait, in a few years another issue will come up and we will find both parties reversing their positions from todays position because it’s convient.
DEAR BILL/ ALTHOUGH YOU ARE A TOUGH FAR LEFT LIBERAL I DO NOT THINK YOU ARE A FASCIST COMMUNIST AND HATE THE USA. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT ABOUT YOU BUT WHY DO YOU SUPPORT OBAMA AND HIS CRIMINAL THUGS AND COMMUNISTS. ??? PLEASE HELP US BILL. I THINK YOU LOVE THE USA LIKE I DO AND I BELIEVE YOU KNOW WHAT OBAMA,PELOSI,SCHUMMER,BOXER AND REID ARE!!!!! PLEASE FIGHT FOR ALL OF US. TOM
Bill, the real issue you keep passing on is the fact that the Democrats don’t need Republicans. How can the Republicans stop anything when the Dem’s have a majority. Until Scott Brown the Democrats didn’t get things done because their own party was stopping things. Stop being the typical “liberal crybaby” and use facts instead of smoke and mirrors. The Republicans have NO influence in the policies set forth and your consistent denial that the Dem’s are the problem is mind boggling!
Can you answer a question for me? why should conservatives go along with policies that they don’t believe in?
