In a slap at both President Lincoln and Dr. King, not to mention the American people, the National Park Service has given Glenn Beck permission to hold a Tea Party rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28 – 47 years to the day after Martin Luther King gave his magnificent “I Have A Dream” speech.
If you ask me, that’s like granting al Qaeda permission to hold a rally on September 11 – at Ground Zero.
What the hell were those bureaucrats at the Park Service thinking?
This has nothing to do with freedom of speech. Glenn Beck has every right to spew his poison on radio, on television, and at every political rally he organizes across the country.
This has to do with recognizing the special significance of some of our most sacred sites – the Jefferson Memorial, the White House, the Lincoln Memorial – and not letting them be used for political circuses – by anybody, of any political persuasion.
Glenn Beck’s August 28 Tea Party rally at the Lincoln Memorial is an abomination. It should be cancelled – immediately.

The event isn’t going to be canceled. But there is going to be a counter-demonstration. Three major African-American leaders just announced that they are not going to stand by and let Beck desecrate Dr. King’s memory.
Show up and let Beck know who surrounds who.
Is this the same Dr. Martin Luther King who wished for people to be judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character? And are you not the same group (liberals) who align yourselves with the KKK and Democrat Party? According to a brief internet search, common symptoms may include dysfunction typically sown through any type of focal neurologic symptoms which may occur, such as cognitive and behavioral impairment (including impaired judgment, memory loss, lack of recognition, spatial orientation disorders), personality or emotional changes, hemiparesis, hypoesthesia, aphasia, ataxia, visual field impairment, etc.
Granted I’m not a doctor, but judging from the article above it seems that you could be suffering from one or more of these early warning signs.

Sounds like the race baiters are at it again. News Corpse, are these groups looking for a fight? I don’t know why black organizations have risen up against the Tea Party. What about smaller government, lower taxes and less federal intervention in our lives don’t you like? We can (and do) disagree about whether or not Glenn Beck should be allowed to hold a rally at the Lincoln Memorial. Actually, we really can’t since it is a public place and the government really has no right to restrict the usage of it based on political content. Still, whatever.
What I truly find disappointing about this is Press’ gratuitous Beck/al Qaeda reference which is inflammatory and solely intended to draw attention. And Mike Malloy said he was hoping that Dick Cheney was actually going to die last weekend. And in your book, you describe the Mike Malloy show as “a hell of a good time”. I sincerely believe that if President Lincoln, Dr. King and Mr. Beck were to have a conversation today, they would find that they have much in common. All three desire to preserve the nation. All three desire to ennoble mankind, both as a species and as individual men and women. All three face adversity to their thinking (though Mr. Beck at this point has not suffered an iota for his ideals, in comparison to President Lincoln or Dr. King). All three rely on the Constitution and the rule of law to enable them to achieve their righteous ambitions.
While I do consider the Lincoln Memorial to be sacred, I do so because it represents the ideals and principles these men have in common. I do not see it as a shrine to the progressive agenda alone, no matter how well-intended.
I question the selection of the date, because of its potential to spark controversy. If it was deliberately contentious, then it seems to me that it vaguely but ironically smacks of Saul Alinsky.
I commend the National Park Service for its neutrality.
