You’ve heard me talk about Glenn Beck’s planned rally at the Lincoln Memorial on August 28, which I strongly oppose.
Well, here’s the latest. It’s not only an insult to the memory of Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr.
As I learned yesterday from the National Park Service, it’s all a fraud.
I spoke with Bill Line in the Communications Office of the NPS. He told me:
- 1. Even though the poster for Beck’s rally shows the Lincoln Memorial, the event would actually be held on the steps of the Reflecting Pool in front of the Memorial, not on the steps of the Memorial itself.
- 2. At this point, according to Line, no final permit has been awarded for the August 28 event. The permit is still pending, and may not in fact be approved. Nevertheless, Beck is already selling t-shirts and posters for the event – and inviting members of the public to attend.
Not only that, Beck is exploiting a charity for the troops to pay for his rally. His website solicits contributions to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, but the fine print says: All contributions made to the SOWF will first be applied to the costs of the Restoring Honor Rally taking place on August 28, 2010.
So there you have it. Glenn Beck’s August 28 rally? It’s not really at the Lincoln Memorial. It may not even be held at all. And he’s using our military to raise money for his political event.

That said, for Beck to use a non-profit that raises funds for the children of dead soldiers to finance his rally is despicable.
Planning his rally at the tidal pool on the anniversary of MLKs “I have a dream, speech” is a poke in the eye to people who appreciate the nature of the conflict over civil right in the country and it obscures the truth and co-opts it to his personal agenda – enrich Glenn Beck. Beck made $23 million last year.

This should not surprise anyone. Con artists have always been able to bamboosle a less than well educated following. Elmer Gantrys are a dime a dozen. Some of these double dealers actually become so rich and famous and that they become untouchable to prosecution, example Rush Limbaugh. Glenn has been very up front since the beginning that the SOWF was handling the contributions because he trusts them. From the beginning he stressed on his shows that any money not needed for the rally would belong to the SOWF. It has never been secret or hidden. It MIGHT be in smaller print in writing but it has been VERY publicized on his shows.
The way you have twisted and spun and lied about Glenn Beck and the “Restoring Honor” rally shows that YOU cannot be trusted to tell the truth.

From what has been reported on beck’s rally logistics, I would encourage anyone in Washington D.C., to bring liberal anti-beck signs and stand behind him on the street and public steps leading up to the Lincoln Memorial.

Click on the link for “this website” and you go to something called CharityFolks. The auction is closed but it says “Next Bid: $65,000.”
The italicized type says:

Is Palin technically correct because this charity is laundering the money for Beck? Do you get a tax deduction? What does the IRS say about this? Can the charity claim is their event?
I have it on very good authority that the permit discussed in the article is not given out to a gathering like this until three days before the scheduled event. What part of the Constitutional Rights of “the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Governmnet for a redress of grievances” do you not understand or agree with? FOX News is how Wall Street co-opted the Tea Party movement and turned it into a shouting match to drown out debate about finance and healthcare. For your information, the Parks Service – that issue permits for events like the one Glenn is planning – only provides them 24-48 hours before the events take place. This talk of corporal punishment angers me. In my junior high I was threatened daily by other students. I skipped gym due to threats to cut off my ear and other all against one fighting etc. I went to chess club instead and was later beaten by my coach. He used a wooden board and I’ll never forget the pain. I hope I never see him again. I’d be too tempted to let him know what that feels like.
I have a lot of horror stories from that school. I’m not sure who was worse, the students or the faculty.

Sue, go look at the site, it says the money is to be donated to this 8/28 project. Any money above what is needed for the project will then be donated to the charity. Nice try though. Lefties always go talking about something they have never researched, though. But who cares about legalities anymore, really, we have to call illegal aliens “undocumented citizens”.
